As a national initiative, HAD operates through its Volunteers. No previous knowledge of archaeology or museum curating is required. The primary qualification is a concern for respectful treatment of the ancestors and a desire to get involved.
If you have particular skills that you think would be of use (writing, internet, photographic or cultural knowledge – for example), please do let us know as we are always keen to present our case in the best possible way.
The time input by our volunteers is very variable. For most it is usually a case of writing the odd email, making a few phone calls and, eventually, attending meetings with museums or other involved groups a few times a year. The quality of your input is more important than the quantity in many cases. If you are not computer savvy, not to worry – we can find ways around that.
We have prepared a range of flyers and guides to help ensure a consistent message goes out on all occassions. So, don’t hesitate to get in touch should you have the need.
Maybe your situation involves a unique challenge – we will put our heads together and try to find a way forward with you.
Whatever your concern or aims, do contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
